Education for Sustainable Development

The aim of this site is to provide resources to support Hackney schools in developing ‘Out-of-School-Hours’ environmental activities which further the aims of Extended Schools (with reference to "Every Child Matters") and Healthy Schools (with links to physical activity, healthy lifestyles and emontional health and well-being).

An out-of-school-hours (aka. study support) environmental club can improve achievement in all areas of the curriculum (especially science, citizenship and sustainable development) and help pupils to develop personal and social skills.

Funding Sources

Information about potential funding sources for environmental projects in schools (award schemes and grant making trusts).

Environmental Study Support small grants for 2007-08 – following the success of last year’s programme, Hackney schools are again invited to apply this year for up to £200 to support their environmental study support projects. Click on the links to download the simple action plan.

Continyou (funded by DfES) is an extensive online resource – ‘If you're from a school or local authority and need some great ideas and practical information for developing, running and sustaining study support as part of the extended '8 to 6' services you provide, then Extra Time 8 to 6 is the resource for you!’
