There are many opportunities for children to learn to move with control and co-ordination including:

  • Using a chain link bridge and swings
  • Climbing to a special room

There is also a garden area with a stile and stepping stones. During the nursery's 50th birthday celebrations, children buried a time capsule there. Wentworth Nursery also has a large outdoor sandpit.

The cover, which lifts up and is fastened to the wall, has been decorated by local artists. Wenworth now has a covered outdoor area enabling painting and a range of table top activities to take place outside througout the year.

On the right hand side of the picture there are illustrations, in wood, of the popular story "Dear Zoo".

In the foreground, children are taking turns to jump off the "spring" bench. The outdoor play equipment was purchased from Playdale.

Millfields Community School

Millfields Community School is a large three decker building in the Lower Clapton area.

The school has a double unit nursery and three reception classes. Recently a local artist helped to brighten up the outdoor area with work based on children's drawings. Children and their families helped with the paintings.
