  • I can locate my county of origin on a
    world map and say which continent it is in;
  • I understand the symbol of the Olympic Rings;
  • I can share ideas about weather around the world;

Entry points
  • Create a large scale (if not accurate) map of the world on the hall floor. Children
    play port-starboard type game, moving from continent to continent when the
    continent’s name is called out;

Activities

  • Identifying the continents on a world map;
  • Labelling countries on a world map;
  • Matching game – weather to country, weather to clothing;
  • Write a sentence about a country and the weather;
  • Write about the Olympic Rings symbol;
Outcomes
  • World map class display showing all the children’s country of origins and the
    different types of weather;
  • Sentences written by the children about the country;
  • Display explaining the significance of the Olympic Rings;
