Year 1 - My Future: "Budding future" (Changing bodies)

Key Skills

  • I can describe features of a baby;
  • I can write a clear sentence;

  • I can recognise my strengths and areas for development;

Entry points
  • To be visited by a parent with a baby;

Activities

  • Draw the baby and write a sentence about how its mum looks after it;
  • Sort pictures of humans into a timeline from youngest to oldest;
  • Recap work from ‘Myself’ and what jobs we want to do. What will we look like? How will our bodies change?;
  • Circle time: Think about future in year 2. What do they want to improve, what are they looking forward to, scared about?;
  • Draw around hands (on paper stars/under photos, etc) write what they will improve in year 2 (can be given to new teacher as they move up for display);
Outcomes
  • Able to describe features of a baby in clear sentences;
  • Able to talk about how people change as they get older;
  • Learners can share feelings with a group;
  • Hands with target written on them;
Resources

- Pictures of People from different ages (Internet/magazines.)
