Year 4 - My Olympics: "The Sound of a Nation" (Anthems)

  • Listen to some National Anthems and discuss how the music/lyrics make you feel;
  • Listen to/Learn the Chorus Numbers from "The World Was All Before Them";

Activities

  • Explore, compare and contrast different National Anthems lyrics and music;
  • From written anthems, explore powerful vocabulary that represents pride, solidarity, strength etc;
  • In groups compose music that represents strength, pride and solidarity;
  • Using poems, groups rework into anthems to fit their composition;
Outcomes
  • Poems celebrating school, Hackney, London and UK;
  • Anthems for 2012;
