Year 4 - Myself: "Where did I come from? (Celebrating cultural diversity)

Key Skills

  • I can aim to achieve my best;
  • I can try to improve on my last performance;
  • I can work in a team;
  • I can use an atlas;
  • I can identify places on a map;
  • I can share something of sentimental value and express it’s worth;
  • I can present findings in a bar charts;

Activities
  • Children to participate in a range of sporting activities and record their achievements on a 'Personal Best cards' card;
  • Children to identify where they come from and place it on a class world map
  • Children to collect evidence from the class map and produce bar charts showing which continents/countries children come from;
  • In circle time, children share something from their home or home country that is important to them;
Outcomes
  • A record of sporting achievement;
  • A record showing progression in each sporting achievement;
  • An awareness of how practice leads to improvement;
  • Class map display;
  • Bar charts (could use ICT);
