Year 5 - My Olympic friends: "Healthy School?" (Nutrition)

- I understand all the components of a healthy diet;
- I can research & compare the diets of two
specific Olympic athletes and ourselves (e.g.
gymnast or body builder);
- I can investigate the school’s attitude to healthy
living;

Activities
- Food research – sorting and identifying the ‘roles’ of food groups;
- Investigate and analyse the school dinner menu and present findings to the kitchen staff, school council and SMT;
- Keep a food diary and use to analyse
alongside the school dinner menu;
- Devise menus to add to the school menu
that will make Olympians of the Future;
Outcomes
- An age appropriate healthy
living plan that takes into
account different food groups
and physical activity that
promotes well being;
- A presentation using data in
a variety of ways and be able
to interpret the data
- Facilitate a whole school
assembly that gives an
overview of findings gathered
around healthy living;
