Year 6 - My London: "Where the Magic Happens!" (Sporting Venues in London)

Entry points
  • Visit to a stadium of some kind in London (Arsenal/ Tottenham Wembley etc);
  • Visit to Roman Arena (under the Guildhall);

Activities

  • Compare sports reports/Listen to sports commentaries;
  • Write own reports of matches/sporting events;
  • Research into the different sporting venues around London – the new and the old. How have they changed – looking at access and equal opportunities etc;
  • Interview different age groups in the local community and ask about their own varying responses to sport over the years;
  • Conduct surveys from different groups regarding time allocated to watching/participating in different sports;
  • Design/draw a new sporting venue for Hackney – incorporating the needs of the community;
Outcomes
  • Information regarding sporting Venues across London presented in different ways (films, recordings, Powerpoint, tables/charts etc);
  • A drawing of a new sporting venue for Hackney to include written notes explaining why this design fulfills the brief;
