ICT Coordinators

Raising teaching and learning standards should be at the heart of any rationale for the use of ICT within the school enabling all learners to apply ICT throughout their learning experience.

A clear, shared vision and strategy for ICT implemented through an agreed plan, should explore how diferrent stakeholders and their priorities are included. This needs to be managed, communicated and monitored.

The ICT coordinator has a key management role to play in ensuring the following:

  • High standards in teaching and learning of ICT
  • Effective integration of ICT across the whole school
  • Maintaining and developing an effective school ICT infrastructure.

The ICT coordinator should be a curriculum leader not a technical trouble-shooter.

The sections below contain examples of documents to support the roles of the ICT Coordiantor. Many thanks to Northwold, Princess May, Daubeney and Springfied schools who have kindly allowed us to share their documents.

Action plans
School 1 - demonstrates what the action plan looks like when linked closely to the SDP and its priorities.

School 2 - is an interim plan demonstrating what can be put in place to affect immediacy. The additional plan illustrates what this looks like when it has been updated.

School 3 - is a good example of what is produced if you use the Becta website. This is an effective plan as it covers all eight areas of the Self Review Framework (SRF).

Skills audit and Analysis tool
Here you will find skills audits with the analysis tool already adapted for your use. In each case all you need do is enter the number each member of staff has allocated to themselves and the tool will do the rest.
(Please note: We strongly advice, unless you are a proficient user of excel, that you don’t alter the columns where the totals will be.)

School 1 - skills audit handout to staff | staff skills audit results |

School 2 - has the same document layout for handout to staff and audit results, but with different audit topics.

School 3 - demonstrates the entire process.
[a] - skills audit handout to staff;
[b] - staff skills audit results;
[c] - whole school spread plus intervention/support/training required;

The idea behind this tool is that when the audit is carried out again (suggested at least twice a year staff would complete this electronically on document [a] which can be held on the shared drive in a school or in the CPD area of your Learning Platform or Intranet.
