Collective Worship

SACRE shares responsibility with the LA (TLT) for improving provision and quality of collective in our non-denominational schools.

SACRE’s commitment to an educational, inclusive approach to collective worship is reflected in our ‘Recommended Approach to Collective Acts of Worship’. It contains worked models of collective worship which, within legal requirements for non-denominational schools, promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

The approach is designed to protect the integrity of pupils, staff and religious traditions in our culturally plural, multi-faith schools.

Community primary, secondary and special schools considering applying for a Collective Worship determination from SACRE should use the processes and forms in this download.

Schools which mark the principal religious festivals will find the RE Online Festivals Calendar a useful starting point for dates and basic information.

A source of principally ‘Christian collective worship’ material is the Culham College and National Society (Church of England) website.

The collective worship/assembley quotation exchange a collection of quotations sent in by teachers and SACRE members.

If you would like to propose additional material, suitable for collective worship at any key stage, please email them to Karl D’Cruz, the SACRE Adviser.
