Sharing Good Practice

1.) Assessemnt for Learning

- How can we implement AfL in our lessons? - These ideas were collated following a recent Network Training Meeting. Further support and advice is available from the Subject Consultant.

2.) Planning for new curriculum - This is the model agreed at the Subject Leader’s Network Meetings for the planning process for the new curriculum. It reflects good practice, by focusing on skills and assessment, and is thus in line with both the new curriculum ethos and AfL.

3.) Overview of Schemes of Work - each written by a school in Hackney. It follows the planning process agreed by the Hackney Network of Humanities’ Teachers, and follows the programme of study of the new QCA curriculum. There are clear cross curricular links, and the assessment criteria and processes, which follow good AfL practice, have been specified.

- What is the quality of housing in Hackney Like? (Year 7)
- Why is football so important? (Year 7)

4.) Schemes of Work - based on the ‘overview’ and following the template agreed at the Subject Leaders’ Network meetings, and follows the new National Curriculum.

- Geography Enquiry Wheel - has been designed by and for teachers to develop the Independent Enquirer personal, learning and thinking skills in students through investigative projects in Geography. It includes suggested thinking tools, which promote the other personal, learning and thinking skills, as well as De Bono’s questions to help students become more involved and reflective of their learning, and links to the new curriculum Key Processes.
